My SchoolNotes Site

In preparation for High School, Jr. High students must take responsibility for their own learning.  Each student is responsible for bringing all required materials to class and taking and maintaining all class notes.  Students are responsible for recording and keeping track of all assignments and completing all assignments themselves.

Materials

BINDER: To help the students' take responsibility and help teach organization skills, each student is required to have a four subject, 3 ring binder.  The binder should be divided into sections labeled and include the following items in this order:

  1. "Notes/Class work" (a spiral notebook)
  2. "Homework" (pocket folder)
  3. "Quizzes" (pocket folder)
  4. Graph paper (minimum 20 sheets)

At any time, student or parent should be able to pick up the binder and see the status of the student's work.

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES:  An assignment book, sharpened pencils, textbook and workbook should be brought to EVERY MATH CLASS.

Textbook

We have a new textbook this year.  To make them last longer, all textbooks need to be covered with a cloth book cover (no glue or tape creations) and all workbooks covered with clear contact paper.

Test/quizzes

Tests will be given approximately every two weeks. Quizzes, labs and projects will be given periodically.  Tests are sent home to be signed, then placed in the student's file.

MAKE UP TEST AND WORK : Make up tests are pre-arranged and can be taken before school between 8:00 and 8:30, or after school between 3:00 and 3:30.  All make up work must be completed within one week from the day of absence.

Grading Policy

Homework/Class Participation: 15%
Quizzes/Labs: 15% (daily quiz points = one quiz)
Tests/Projects: 70%

Homework

Each student has a homework assignment notebook for recording all assignments.

√ + 100 All assigned problems completed with all problems tried and corrected, if wrong.  Handed in on time!
√ - 80 One day late - all problems are completed and corrected; OR
Handed in on time - but did not correct missed problems;
√ -- 70 Did some homework assigned or many problems are missed and not corrected or homework is more than 2 days late;
0 0 Did not do homework, handed in homework with no work shown, just answers.
  • Homework assigned is for practice and is due the next day or grade will be penalized.
  • Neatness counts! Torn notebook paper or illegible written assignments are not accepted.  The students will receive a zero grade or be asked to redo the assignment.
  • All homework, quizzes & tests must be completed on graph paper.
  • If late homework becomes a habit, conference will be requested between student, parent, and teacher to correct habit.
