Dear Parents,
Just a few reminders for the week -
Movie night is Oct. 12. Information went home in the brown envelope on Friday.
This Friday is the first Friday in October and the NJHS is collecting food for the St. Tim food pantry. Kindergarten is asked to bring mac and cheese.
Friday is a Spirit Day for the Run For Fun(d). Kindergarten's color is orange. The kindergarten children are to wear jeans or PE shorts and an orange shirt.
The children will begin wearing their winter uniform after Columbus Day.
The book "Where's Your Tooth?" that the children brought home last Thursday was a "Get it signed" book. Please have your child read it to you, sign it and return the book.
This week we will be studying -
Reading - a new letter person and the word "the" will be introduced.
Math - patterning
Religion - Guardian Angel and the Angel of God prayer, St. Francis
Science - Fire Safety
Social Studies - Christopher Columbus

Dear Parents,
Please remember that the children will have their pictures taken on Tuesday. Send your picture envelopes to school with your child on Tuesday, if you wish to purchase pictures. The children are to wear a uniform shirt with a collar on Tuesday, (white or yellow polo shirts or blouses). They may choose to wear shorts or pants.
If you are interested in ordering books from Scholastic, I am sending the order in on Monday. You may still send orders with your child on Monday morning.
I am sending home Homework Journals with the children tomorrow. There are directions inside the front cover which explain what the children are to do. Please have your child return the journal on or before Thursday.
This week we will be working on-
Religion - The gift of water
Reading - a new letter person and rhyming words
Math - sorting by size, color and shape, what does not belong to a group
Social Studies - Johnny Appleseed, telephone numbers
Science - Dental Health
Please remember that we have PE on Wednesday and Friday.

Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone who attended Back to School night. A special thank you to all of the parents who took a fish from the board and to those who already sent in items. I really appreciate your help.
Some reminders from Back to School night -
Birthdays - We will celebrate your child's birthday on their actual birthday or the closest school day. We will also celebrate summer birthdays on the child's half-birthday. You will receive a note a few weeks before your child's birthday explaining what type of snack to send to school. Please do not send in treat bags.
Absentees - Please send a note each time your child misses school. You may email the note.
Cameras - Please send a disposable camera to school with your child, if you haven't already done so.
Changes in transportation - Please let me know when your child is changing how they are going home. If you are part of a car pool, you only need to send in one note for the year informing me of the members of your car pool.
Run for Fun(d) - I neglected to ask for volunteers for the Run for Fun(d) on Oct. 19. The PTO is looking for volunteers to help monitor the course, work water stations, run games and serve snacks. The set-up time is 10am to 12 noon and the event time is 1pm-3pm. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer.
This week, we will be discussing creation and the gift of light in Religion. In reading, we will continue to work on the letter M. This week we will focus on identify M words, writing M words, counting syllables in M words, reading color words and writing the letter Mm. Show and tell for letters starts this week with the letter M. Your child received a note on Friday informing you which day they have show and tell each week. In math, we are working on sorting by size, color and shape.

Picture Day for KB is Sept. 25. The children are to wear their collared shirt for pictures. Girls may wear jumpers or skorts.

Dear Parents,
Thank you for sending your email address to me. You will be receiving weekly emails concerning what is happening in KB.
We will continue to work on rhyming this week and we will begin working on letter sounds. In math, we are working on position words - in, on, out, under, top, middle, bottom, in front and behind. We will begin sorting this week. In religion, we are working on creation.
Some reminders for this week -
11:30 dismissal on Monday. No hot lunch.
Rhyming show and tell - If your child did not bring their rhyming show and tell to school last week, bring it on Monday. Five children are sharing their show and tell items each day.
Tuesday - On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the children are asked to wear red, white and blue tops with their choice of jeans, uniform shorts or PE shorts. They are also asked to bring $1 for the Pentagon Memorial Fund.
PE- We will have PE on Wednesday and Friday. The children must wear sneakers and the girls must wear shorts.
Library - Your child brought home their first library book last Thursday. Please return the plastic bag and book on or before this Thursday.
Hot Lunch - Hot lunch starts on Tuesday. Please let your child know if they are buying hot lunch. For the children with allergies, please include a note in their lunch box informing me when they are buying hot lunch.
Back to School Night - This Wednesday, Sept. 12, is Back to School Night for grades K-6.
