Inclement Weather Policy

KINDERGARTEN through 8th Grade:

In case of inclement weather (heat, ice, snow) Saint Timothy follows Fairfax County’s announcements of “NO SCHOOL”, “DELAYED OPENING”, or “EARLY CLOSING”. If Fairfax County extends its Monday hours to a full day, we will also. If school is closed or closes early, all after school activities are cancelled.  Follow the link below to check the status of school closings. Additionally, Fairfax County will send email alerts regarding delayed openings, closings and early closings to subscribers of their "Keep in Touch" e-mail notification system, also available at the following link.

Fairfax County School Closings Announcements

On the rare occasion when we are scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. dismissal and there is cause for an alteration in schedule, the following procedure applies: if Fairfax County announces a one hour delayed opening, we will have school from 9:30 am to 11:30 am; if Fairfax County announces a two hour delayed opening we will not have school.

If Fairfax County schools are having a scheduled holiday, and we are not, please check our web site and WMAL radio station for instructions on delayed opening, closing and early closing.  If you are unable to obtain accurate information, please find a friend, etc. who will be able to contact you. We cannot contact individual parents.

If Fairfax County announces that after school activities are cancelled, St. Timothy school after school activities (band, choir, sports events) will be cancelled.  See EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM for policies relating to the After School Care Program.  If schools are closed for the day, all after school activities are also closed.

PRESCHOOL:

If there is a two-hour delayed opening, the morning session will have school from 10:15 - 12:15 and the afternoon session will have school from 1:15 - 3:15.

If there is a two-hour delayed opening on a Monday and Fairfax County extends the school day to a full day, the morning session will have school from 10:15 - 12:15 and the afternoon session will have school from 1:15 - 3:15.

EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM:

If St. Timothy School is closed due to inclement weather, then the Extended Day Program will be closed.

If there is an early dismissal due to inclement weather, the Extended Day Program will not operate.
