The philosophy of the St. Timothy Learning Center is based on the assertion that every Catholic child has a right to a Catholic school education when space is available and the special needs of the students can be met by the Learning Center Staff. The Learning Center serves as an umbrella offering services in special education such as learning disabilities, remedial reading, resource and speech/language disorders. The limitations of accepting special needs students are determined by the severity of the individual student's ability to function and succeed with appropriate instruction and accommodations in the classroom and the Learning Center. St. Timothy School does not accept students who may present a danger to themselves or to the school community. Students who may require counseling for emotional disorders are referred to appropriate agencies in the county. Students who do not qualify for services in the Special Education program and whose academic process is impacted by a medical or processing deficit may receive accommodations as provided under a Student Assistance Plan or curriculum modifications as required under an Individualized Catholic Education Plan. These services will be determined by the specific needs of each student. RequirementsTo receive services a student must meet qualifying criteria. A referral form, that includes documentation and reasons for concern, must be completed by the classroom teacher or the parent. This referral will be reviewed by the Screening Committee for evaluation. The Committee will make recommendations and determine what action and/or services need to be provided. Parents will be contacted with the results of the Screening Committee. Services Provided
FeesFees are determined by the number of hours a student receives per week. Each family will receive a fee statement which is billed through the St. Timothy School Business Office on a monthly basis. Speech/language services are billed directly through the clinician. Faculty
