Band Handbook
The St. Timothy Band is a great opportunity for students here at our school. The program is run through the Garwood Whaley Music Program, which has been bringing band to the Catholic schools for 35 years. Starting in 4th grade students are invited to participate in the program. There are no prerequisites as most 4th graders are placed in Beginner Band. Students meet once a week on Wednesdays and perform in several concerts through out the school year. The Advanced Band (5th - 8th graders) takes a semi-annual trip to a band competition in Hershey, PA. They took home a 2nd place trophy in 2011 and also have received the highest rating of "Superior" at the Diocesan Band Festival 4 years in a row.
The band has been under the direction of Laura Scheidt since 2007. Laura has a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education from George Mason University. She teaches at several schools in the diocese and occasionally performs with the Fairfax Wind Symphony.
